Minimally Invasive Vein Treatments: Effective and Easier on You Than Ever

vascular-treatmentThankfully, old-school vein treatments like vein stripping, which required a hospital stay and a long recovery, have been replaced by quick, comfortable procedures that can produce remarkable results.

Why Choose Dr. Tawfik for Your Vein Treatment?

As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Tawfik works with beating, moving hearts, and arteries, which are much smaller and more difficult to treat than veins. Such intense conditions allowed him to quickly master the technologies of today’s vein treatments; giving him a distinct edge in accuracy and efficiency over many providers.

Welcome to Premier Vein & Vascular’s new school vein treatments

Today’s minimally invasive procedures are quick, comfortable and require very little if any, downtime. All vein treatments are performed in the comfort of Dr. Tawfik’s office using only local anesthesia (topical numbing agents). To treat varicose veins and spider veins, Dr. Tawfik offers:

  • Sclerotherapy – Dr. Tawfik performs sclerotherapy to treat smaller varicose veins and spider veins. He injects a medication, or sclerosant, into problem veins. The injected sclerosant causes the veins to scar and collapse, so blood can no longer fill them. Blood is redirected to normal, healthy veins, and the treated vein eventually dissolves into the body. Most people return to normal activities the same day!
  • Radiofrequency ablation – Leveraging the heat created from radiofrequency (RF), Dr. Tawfik precisely directs RF heat into varicose veins through a thin, flexible tube (catheter). This closes off blood flow in the main problem vein, which is absorbed by your body. Typically, Dr. Tawfik can perform RF ablation in just 20-30 minutes.
  • Ambulatory phlebectomy – Also known as microphlebectomy, Dr. Tawfik performs this minor surgical procedure to remove large, surface varicose veins. He makes tiny incisions (no bigger than 1.5 millimeters each—no stitches required) through which he removes the veins. Once this is complete, your leg will be wrapped in a special bandage to snugly compress it. The procedure takes less than 1 hour, and you should be able to resume daily activities within 24 hours.
